Eric's System Administrator Journal

Yeah, I know this journal is pretty rough and bare boned (and perhaps a little bit cheesey, even), but I'm busy enough as it is. I just wanted to help some other Sys/Network admins or IT staff by sharing some information learned.

Other Great Links:

  • I Broke the Console Barrier - An awesome article, written much like my journals, which describes writing a dos-like text editor for Linux! He never finished it the editor, but the article has some great info.
  • Small Unix - a huge collection of tiny linux distributions, fitting on floppies, micro-CD-ROM's, etc. Some of these make excellent repair/recovery tools.
  • Virus Source Code Database - Source code for thousands upon thousands of viruses. If you want to figure out how to do some extremely low-level stuff, take a look at how they did it in a virus! There's some excellent stuff in there, even if you're not writing viruses! (and if you are, stop it, damnit)
